Bike Fitting

Due to COVID-19 we are not scheduling bike fittings at this time.

Improve Your Comfort & Performance

Investing in a professional bike fitting is critical to getting the most out of your cycling experience. Each cyclist, from first time novice to professional racer, will benefit from proper positioning, optimizing comfort and efficiency. At Gerk’s we specialize in the Body Geometry Fit method, developed by Specialized and the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine. Additionally, we are supported by the DATA dual angle video capture system, a cutting edge software specifically designed for bike fitting. This unique system combines a dynamic fit, along with a thoughtful assessment of each rider’s bio-mechanics, taking into consideration your unique cycling goals and individual needs, so we can create the ideal positioning on your bike.

When you schedule a bike fitting at Gerk’s, you will get the most advanced fit available outside of an actual clinical setting. We care about your unique needs as a cyclist and realize that bike fitting requires an in-depth understanding of your unique characteristics. Every bike fit begins with a detailed pre-fit assessment, so we can ensure a comfortable ride while taking into consideration your past injuries and discuss your current goals. We use flexibility and strength assessments to gather additional information and to determine what positions on your bike are possible and most appropriate for you. Once your pre-fit assessment has been completed, we will further explore the proper positioning of your bike, so that you are able to increase efficiency, power, and comfort. A BG (Body Geometry) Fit at Gerk’s will focus on placing the rider in a neutral position, enabling adaptation to any terrain they may encounter and ensuring an ideal alignment through the pedal stroke. Using the information gathered in the pre-assessment, we are able to fit your bike in accordance with your individual bio-mechanics and needs. The DATA video system further enables us to analyze each part of your unique pedal stroke and provide a visual reference for recommended improvements that can be made. And because proper bike fitting relies on 3-D alignment through the pedal stroke, we will complete your fit by finding the ideal foot, knee, and hip placement throughout. What separates a BG Fit at Gerk’s from any other fit method is the understanding of your body, gathered in the pre-fit assessment and follow up assessment, with this information we will ensure any correction suggested and its applications are appropriate, reducing your risk of injury and promoting your best ride. Please keep in mind, during your fit process it may be necessary to replace certain components or equipment in order to achieve optimal results. Your BG Fit is also an ideal time to replace any worn items, such as cleats, pedals, or grips, and consider upgrading to a higher end component, such as a carbon bar.

Sizing – $100

Not ready for a complete BG fit but want to get started right? We offer a sizing service that ensures proper seat height and fore/aft position as well as handlebar position. This service does not include a pre-fit assessment or 3-d adjustments. This service is included with a new bike purchase.

Road or MTB – $300 | Aero or TT – $350

Gerk’s uses the BG FIT system to ensure maximum rider benefits from our professional fit sessions. The BG FIT system uses motion capture technology allowing our trained BG FIT consultants to record and analyze the dynamics of your pedal stroke. Our multi-step process includes an evaluation of  your physical structure and limitations of flexibility.  This ensures that your final fit position falls within your bodies capabilities and maximizes your performance while minimizing your risk of injury.  Expect our BG FIT service to be 2-4 hours in length.

Come to your fit with all your equipment including a clean riding outfit, shoes, and helmet if you plan on riding outside after the fit. If you tend to sweat a lot please bring a towel as you will be riding at varying levels of intensity during the fit. Because it may take some time for your body to adjust to a new position on the bike it is also a good idea to schedule a fit well in advance of any events or heavy training periods.

If the Shoe Fits

For maximum power transfer on the road or trail, and for exceptional comfort on a spin bike, our experts recommend clip-less cycling shoes and pedals. Cycling shoes provide stiff soles and the ability to easily click in and out of your pedal system, making your ride and your workout more efficient and effective, with added comfort and stability. Never get stuck in a toe cage again!
